Why Coaching Works

You may be thinking to yourself "I don't need to hire a coach to make me successful when there are tons of books out there that will tell me everything I need to know".  If only it was that simple, we would have a world full of happy, fulfilled and prosperous entrepreneurs who revel in making tough decisions, can plan successfully for the future and know how to manage their staff without the slightest bit of doubt as to the outcome.  Sadly, I haven't come across too many of these people, but what I do know is that all of the business owners with whom I have worked, have needed the reassurance and guidance of an experienced mentor and coach to finally make important headway into their future success.

Most of us have been conditioned from birth and throughout our life journey to believe certain things that sometimes help us in life but often hinder us instead.  These beliefs are commonly referred to as self limiting beliefs and they will generally stop us from making the kind of decisions that we need to make to move forward not only in our personal lives but also in our business and professional lives.  When you work with a coach, they will help you to identify, challenge and overcome these beliefs that are holding you back from the success you desire.

Setting Goals 

This sounds so simple and yet is one of the most difficult things to follow through with on a day to day basis.  Let me ask you this.  How many New Years resolutions have you made in your life and how many have you followed through to a successful outcome?  If you are one of the many, the answer to that question is "no where near as many as you would have liked!".  Hundreds if not thousands of books and self help articles have been written about setting goals.  It's not really all that difficult to do.  If you can use pen and paper you can set goals!  The real challenge lies in the following through and this is where having a great coach working with you makes you stand out from the crowd.  It is what your coach will do for you that you probably will never do for yourself.  Your coach will make you accountable for the goals you set and then help you with the plan you will need to follow through.  Let's face it - a book just can't do this for you...ever!
